Gas Leak

Good afternoon parents. Around 1pm this afternoon Midland Middle School was notified by local authorities that there was a gas leak across from the school in a nearby ditch. The leak was not on school property. Lacon police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Lacon - Sparland Fire Department arrived soon after and asked us to shelter in one location away from the front entrance of the school. All students and staff were moved to the little gym on the backside of the school while we waited for further instructions. Ameren had the leak off quickly and Marshall County has since given us the all clear. Students have returned to their normal day. We wanted to keep all parents up to date and appreciate your support in this manner.
