Dear Midland families,
I joined the district as the Midland Middle School Counselor in July 2017. Although I grew up in Peoria, my mom graduated high school as a Mid-County Bulldog! My grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousins live in Lacon and Henry. I am fond of this community and look forward to working with you and your students!
At Illinois Wesleyan University, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Hispanic Studies. After graduation I worked as an Admission Counselor, helping students and their families navigate the college application process. My experience with high school and community college students taught me the importance of career exploration and transfer planning. In 2017 I graduated from Bradley University with my Master’s degree in Professional School Counseling. During my studies I completed internships at East Peoria Community High School and Bradley University’s Alcohol and Marijuana Intervention Program.
As part of MMS’ Dens courses, I will explore Character Education with small groups of students. I am excited for this opportunity to meet with 7th and 8th grade students outside of instructional time.
As a School Counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and social/emotional domains:
